In 2014, the casino industry rapidly disintegrated in Atlantic City leaving over 8,000 individuals laid off. Three years later, the city is still dealing with the aftermath, and Atlantic City still has one of the highest unemployment rates in the state of New Jersey.
Catholic Charities Employment Services & Assistance Program was created to assist the citizens of Atlantic City find employment by way of: referrals, job readiness training, workshops and job placement. Catholic Charities provides assistance to clients by identifying transferable skills and areas in need of training to determine the best match for employment.
The program aims to close the unemployment gap in Atlantic City by providing those seeking assistance the tools they will need to attain employment, and ultimately, self-sufficiency.
